Some of the people reading this have been hurt by a church. Maybe a leader broke your trust. Maybe you gave years of service and nobody noticed when you left. Maybe you were judged when you needed help. If that is you, we want to say this first: what happened to you matters, and it is not too late to find a church home again.

Separate God from what people did

People fail. Churches fail. God does not. One of the hardest and most healing steps is to let God be God again, separate from the people who misrepresented Him. You can be honest with Him about the hurt. He can handle it.

Take it one step at a time

You do not have to join anything, sign anything, or explain your story on your first visit. Sit in the back. Watch a service online first. Leave early if you need to. A healthy church will give you room to heal at your own pace.

Look for these signs of a healthy church

Leaders who know people by name. Teaching that is grounded in the Bible. Room for questions. Care that does not come with strings attached. Accountability and order in how the church is run. And people who are honest that they are still growing too.

You belong here

At Abiding Love Church, our marks are Healing, Hope, and Belonging. Our pastors, Pastor and Prophet Micah Huggins and Prophetess Lauren Huggins, have a heart for people who have been broken or overlooked. We are not a perfect church, but we are a loving one, and we would be honored to walk with you.

We meet Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in Leak Chapel, 302 W. Market Street, downtown Greensboro. Plan your visit, or watch a message first. Either way, we are glad you are here.
